Four reasons to hire a graphic designer

As a business owner (and not a graphic designer yourself), here are four reasons you should hire a local Vancouver graphic designer.

Think of it this way: You can save money, energy, and time by hiring a designer.

Starting and running a business takes a lot of time (as you are well aware). The real question is: do you really (actually) have time to create a good brand for your company?

Creating something basic in Microsoft Word, Publisher, or even PowerPoint may seem easy enough (until you have time to deal with it later) and sending it to printers might seem like a quick fix. As a matter of fact, those file types are neither helpful nor usable to designers or printers.

The vast majority of situations in which your logo will be used, including print and web, are unknown to you.

DIYers would learn this through trial and error, but who has that kind of time? You won’t be able to embed the font(s) you selected in your Word, Powerpoint, or Publisher documents. The formatting can vary greatly depending on who opens the file and whether they have the same fonts as you (possibly the top reason why we hate receiving these kinds of files).

It costs money to make mistakes. The cost of wasted time is high. In spite of your best intentions, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you will end up doing both, doubling the cost.

Although we are not saying you are not smart enough to figure it out & avoid mistakes, we are saying you are probably too busy to deal with all of that.

Due to your proximity to the project, you probably cannot see the forest for the trees. It’s probably because you’re looking at it through rose-colored glasses or with a hyper-focused lens.

I approach new clients from an objective perspective, from an outsider’s eye, and try to imagine myself as their ideal client. Since a brand is only good if it works, We try to put myself in your and your ideal clients’ shoes.

  • What is the mindset of your ideal client?
  • How will you convey your brand’s message without overcomplicating it?
  • Why should they trust you (so they will buy from you)?

It will likely look better too (not bragging here; the truth hurts). Let us cut you some time by handling it for you. If you communicate well, we can do it in a fraction of the time.

1. You can save money by Hiring a Vancouver Graphic Designer

We can help you determine what would be the most cost-effective option for printing business cards, letterheads, flyers, or whatever else you need.

In terms of other design work, such as building your website or branding your social media accounts, We can do it right the first time, so you’re far less likely to have to rebrand later. The rebranding process can be an absolute nightmare (changing all branding imagery, moving content to a new website, letting everyone know about the domain change – I know from experience!). It is DEFINITELY important to get it right the first time.

Also, I’m always looking for new/better tools for businesses and might know how you can save money by switching to something else or sticking with what you have.

If you can tell us what you need, I’ll find a solution for you that works both with your budget and with your business needs in mind.

2. Designers can help you upstage your competition.

Especially if your competition has DIY branding, designers can help you stand out.

It’s true you can download a free trial (or pay for a month) of some design software and try to design your own materials, but doing so won’t make you stand out. It will appear that you tried, and (likely) failed, to make your own designs. My apologies; We know it sounds harsh, but it’s the truth.

My services will help you stand out among your competitors, look sharp, professional, and legitimate. As business owners, and having successfully launched hundreds of brands, we have a knack for setting up your ideas to meet your needs and put your brand in a positive light for your target market.

3. It is important to maintain a consistent, reliable, and recognizable brand image.

There is nothing more unprofessional than a business that does either of the following:

  • Lacks a clear business identity
  • Has too many of them

There are probably plenty of examples of “that business” in the world, and you’ve probably been confused by its lack of identity, haven’t you? What is the point of having four different logos? –are we right?

In the business world, consistency represents stability, so you want everything to appear intentional and NOT haphazard.

We’ll take care of those small details for you. We understand the Vancouver graphic design and small business landscape and will make sure your design idea will be kept on track by a set of standards, including fonts, colors, and image styles.

4. Attract the right audience with great branding.

Though it may seem trivial to you, big brands aren’t built by founders designing their own brands on their home computers after work.

An expert with the skills or the instincts to create a professional design will help your company stand out from its competitors when you are serious about your business.

A well-designed company material will enhance your credibility, which ultimately impacts your results.

What is the secret to attracting the right audience? That’s pretty easy to explain.

The goal isn’t to design something for an auto shop that looks like it belongs to a wedding planner. Do you agree? You can’t fit one style into another, and vice versa.

In other words, a professional will always design with your target audience (i.e. your ideal client) in mind.
