As an entrepreneur with ADHD, I get it.
Marketing your own business can feel like the hardest part, especially when your brain refuses to follow the rules of structure, consistency, or “just post every day.” The pressure to be visible all the time, the mental load of planning content, the awkwardness of talking about yourself… it’s exhausting isn’t it?
But here’s the GOOD news: you don’t need to be everywhere, post constantly, or act like someone you’re not. You just need a way of marketing that works with your brain, not against it.
These tips are for people like us, folks who are running businesses with big ideas, limited executive function, and zero interest in being fake online.
1. Pick one platform and actually use it
Don’t try to do Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and a blog all at once. ADHD brains burn out fast when there’s too much input. Pick one that you actually enjoy being on and commit to using it consistently, even if that means once a week.
If you like writing, start with LinkedIn or a blog. If you’re visual, go with Instagram. If you hate all of it, start with email.
2. Use templates and scripts but make them sound like you
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time you write a post or pitch. Keep a folder of reusable stuff: captions, DM intros, call-to-actions, blog outlines, email subject lines. When your brain hits a wall, past-you can hand present-you a starting place.
The trick is making sure it still sounds like you, not like a marketing robot… beep boop beep.
3. Batch content on a good brain day
When you’re in the zone, take advantage of it. Write three posts instead of one. Record a few quick videos. Map out your next email. You won’t always have that energy, so use it while it’s there.
This way, you can show up even on the weeks where everything feels too loud.
4. Let your clients do the talking
Hate bragging? Don’t. Let your work speak for itself. Share screenshots of client feedback. Ask people what they liked about working with you and turn their answers into posts or testimonials. Real words from real people hit harder than any sales pitch.
5. Keep your CTA painfully clear
Don’t assume people know what to do next. ADHD or not, most folks need simple directions. Spell it out.

- DM me ‘Logo’ and I’ll send pricing
- Tap the link in bio to work with me
No second guessing. Just one clear next step.
6. Build systems around your natural rhythm
Some weeks you’ll feel unstoppable. Other weeks, not so much. That’s fine. Set up systems that keep things moving even when your energy tanks.
Automate what you can:
- Schedule content in advance
- Set up email sequences once and reuse them
- Link your most recent offer in your bio and email signature so people can always find it
Your business can keep running even when your brain needs a break.
7. Stop trying to market like someone you’re not
There’s no single right way to do this. The business owners who stand out are the ones who show up as themselves. You don’t need to be polished, perfect, or super consistent. You just need to be clear, honest, and find a way to keep showing up that works for you.
Plenty of people are looking for someone just like you. Make it easy for them to find you.
